Anyone know Dr. Maguire ... Dayton?
Hi, I am having surgery from his partner Dr. Teel in two days! I haven't met Dr. Maguire however I have heard good things about him. I really like his partner Dr. Teel. The office is great, the staff is so helpful. They truly walked me through the enitre procedure. I haven't had any previous surgeries in that hospital however I have heard good things about it. You should be in good hands!
The only reason I didn't have Dr Maguire was he was all booked up so I had Dr. Maguire as my second surgon when he and Dr Hadley were in practice together. At the practice there were always 2 surgons in the or at all times. You will be in GREAT HANDS!!!!!!!! He is one of the best WLS docs in OHIO. If I remember right he is a FOUNDING member of the ABS.
Good Luck,
Robin

I am a current patient of Dr. Maguire, my surgery was 4 months ago. I would not have let anyone else do this surgery, PERIOD. I have no problem saying, HE IS THE BEST. Hands down,
You will realize this along your journey. I went to many pre-tests and the staff would ask who was doing my surgery, when I told them Maguire, they would just rave about how Maguires patients seem to do better then any other in this area. I am bias, I know this but I wouldnt let just anyone do this too my body. He has been performing surgery for nearly 30 years. If you go to the support groups every month at the Valley, he is ALWAYS there. He provides us with his home phone #.
I felt very comfortable going into surgery with him, and I had never even been in a hospital before.
His staff is WONDERFUL! Especially Jennifer, she does all the insurance, She Rocks! I had an approval within 3 days. All of his staff is great. My stay at MVH was nice, all the nurses were great, my nurse had even had gastric bypass.
If you need more info, you can send me a private message.
Oh, and he is very.....quiet. He is brilliant, and everything that needs said is said.
You will be in GREAT HANDS and be very well taken care of!
If you go to the support group meetings, I am always there!
No meeting in July, I think the next is August 6th?
Good luck, Molly
You would definitely be in good hands with him. I have two friends who used him (and one who used his associate Dr Teel), and they were all very happy.
I do, however, have to disagree with Molly about her statement that his patients do "better" than those who had other surgeons (perhaps the poeple telling her this are biased because they are associated with Miami Valley Hospital...?). It's really important that you be happy with your surgeon, but that claim has NO basis in fact.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I have a friend who had Dr. Maguire do her RNY and she speaks very highly of him. I went to one of his seminars two years ago, when I was considering RNY, and was impressed, especailly with his 30 years of WLS experience. I understand that he also teaches. He is one of the reasons I chose Dr. Teel to do my surgery. I know Dr. Teel has an excellant rep as well, but knowing that he partnered with Dr. Maguire gave me even more confidence in him.
I was just banded Tuesday, and have had very good care from Dr. Teel and Maguire's staff and the staff at Miami Valley Hospital.
