how long after is apnea gone

hi, i was just wondering about how long after surgery do you see sleep apnea gone and how do you know ?? i so cant wait to get rid of the darn machine

Hi, I just had what I hope to be my last sleep study last night.  I started to wear my cpap machine last feb, 2007.  I had my surgery June, 2007.  I'm down almost 90 lbs.  The tech said my readings look good and I hope when I see my pulmonologist next month I will be offically off the machine. I've been sleeping a lot better since the weight loss and dont feel tired all the time like I used to.  Good Luck with your surgery!

Make sure you have another sleep study done before you get rid of the mask. There might be other problems your having in your sleep. The sleep doctor will let you know when it's time. I've been on mine over a couple of years now. My sleep doctor told me (when he see's me again next spring) he will either lower the pressure or take me off of it all together. Good luck, Dave

for some ppl it never goes away-depends on your body--not just your weight.... definitely need to have a new sleep study done to be sure.....

Mine never went away even at lowest weight.
