LAPBAND SURGEY
HELLO I AM LINDA FROM OHIO .I AM SO VERY UPSET AND VERY DISAPPOINTED.I WENT TO DETROIT MI.TO HAVE MY SURGEY FRI.DR .CUT ME 5 PLACES .I COULDN'T HAVE THE LAPBAND DONE BECAUSE MY LIVER WAS INLARGED.HE SAID THERE WAS SOME BLEEDING.I FOLLOWED THE PROTEIN DRINK FOR 2 WEEKS.HAS THIS EVER HAPPENED TO ANY ONE ELSE.I AM BEING PUT ON A 1000 CALORIE DIET FOR 4 WEEKS THEN SURGEY AGAIN.THANKS FOR READING.GODBLESS ,LINDA
I'm so sorry you had surgery and then did not get the band put into place! How frustrating to have to go through a second surgery!
Unfortunately, with lap band, you apparently don;t have the option of the surgeon just switching from lap to open surgery (as they will sometimes do for a RNY, etc.) if the liver is a problem.
Keep your chin up. The four weeks will probably pass quickly (and, on 1000 calories a day, you should lose some weight).

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
One thing I never realized was how large the liver is...it takes up a large area of our abdomen, and blocks the view the surgeon has of the area he needs to place the band...by following a special preop diet...the liver will usually flatten out and make access easier....Did your surgeon give you any specifics as to why your liver stayed enlarged?

Hi Linda!
I'm going to go out on a limb here...do you have Medical Mutual insurance and went through Bariatrix Clinics in Groveport? If so, girl, do we need to talk!
