BACK PAIN

Anyone have any problems with back pain after a rouen-y.  I had my surgery 4/16, and the abdominal pain is fair to light, but the back pain has been horrible for the past 2 days.  I walk, stretch, take my pain meds everything.  My husband had tried giving me a light back massage, and that helped for about an hour, but then the pain returned.  Any suggestions out there?

try a heating pad...it is probably because of the way you are laying and setting...also the CORE muscles for your back actually wrap around your abdomen.  (they are the muscles at the very bottom of your belly)  when you suck in your belly those are the muscles that are used for your lower back....you just had an operation and those muscles were affected not directly but everything was moved around in there so they were also moved and touched even though not directly....if you add that to the fact that you are taking it easy and setting/laying in a cautious mannor....plus you have a binder (or you should have one)  put it all together and your without a doubt gonna have back pain... Try using a heating pad, massage   If it doesn't ease up the farther out from surgery you get i would call my surgeon and see what they suggest. Hope this might help you some....I'm no doctor but this is what i was told by my doctor...I had lap-band surgery march 13th and i am still having back problems...however i had problems before it's just worse now so it has slowed my exercise process...ugh thanks stephanie

Hi all - I have dealt with back trouble for a long time, which is what really led to my having the RNY last Tuesday.  My back was really bothering me too, and since my surgeon doesn't like to do belly binders (although I'm going to ask him about it at my follow-up visit on Thursday!), I've started wearing my most firm, supportive undies.  They don't come up far enough to annoy my incisions, and that extra support of my lower belly has made a world of difference!  My favorites are from Fashion Bug - they have this little crisscross pattern to them that seems to give them some extra support. I sure do hope it gets better for you - back pain stinks! :) Stacy
