Hello all,
I usually hang out on the DS forum but I am probably going to be using Dr. Lane for my revision from VBG to DS and was curious if anyone can give me any info on Dr. Lane and the Wood Co. Hospital. Thanks so much,
Nancy

I have not used him, I had RNY, but I have heard great things about him. I am sure you will get a lot of positive feedback. Best of luck on your revision!! ~ Terisa

Hi Nancy, Dr. Lane did my surgery and I think he's great.    I  had my surgery on January 15, 2008 and have had no problems.    My only regret is that I didn't do it years ago.   I've had several friends that have had Dr. Lane also and I'm sure they will comment to you too.  Good Luck you will be in good hands with Dr. Lane!

Thank you for your comments. I appreciate it. Just out of curiosity how was the hospital. Do they have private rooms? Are they a COE?

I had a good experience with WCH no problems at all.   The room had two beds in it but I was alone the entire time.  I was in from Tues-Saturday.   I am not sure about the COE.  I hope someone else can answer you on that one.

Hi Nancy, I am a friend of Melissa's that also answered you.  I am usually on the over 50 forum and rarely come over here, but to answer your question about Dr. Lane-He's great.  I am 2.3 years post op and have done very well.  Wood Co Hospital is not a Center of Excellence.  They are working on that but not there yet.  I also had a semi private room but never had another roomate my 3 days there.  The nursing care was adequate.  I am a nurse too so basically knew what I was supposed to be doing and did it LOL!  I believe they try to keep the bariatric patients in private rooms as part of the "package" was my understanding anyway.  Dr Lane and his PA Amy are wonderful.  I would let them do any surgery on me at any time.  He is technically very good and a very good human being too. They both really care about their patients.  I have another friend who had him do her surgery in November of last year and she also is doing very well.  I don't think you would be sorry to have him as a surgeon.  Good luck!

Hi Debbie G, Thank you for the info. I was under the impression that Dr. Lane took over for Dr. Hess. You would think by now that they would be a COE wouldn't you??

Dr. Lane did my DS and my DH's DS.  He did take over for Dr Hess and still consults with him on a regular basis.  Wood County is not a COE and probably won't be.  It is my understanding that the Board doesn't want to change the name and County facilities are not likely to get COE designation.  They really need to be a teaching hospital for that. Dr. Lane has done other surgeries for me and will be doing one more in May.  I consistantly return to him and am very pleased with the hospital.  EXCELLENT nursing staff! I'm 2 yrs out now and very pleased with my DS! Kimby
