Just had surgeryy Monday and I am in hell

I thought that I also read somewhere that the gas pain can be so horrible becuase it's not necessarily gas within the digestive track that is causing the pain - it's the gas within your abdomen in general.  It has to be reabsorbed into your tissues becuase unlike gas in the digestive system, you can't burp or fart it out!   Good luck and hang in there! 

Hi Lynne-- My RNY was almost 5 years ago and for the first few weeks I wondered what in God's name I had been thinking : )       I went in thinking I was having a LAP RNY and came out from under to discover I had to have an open RNY.  It really does get better, but I certainly remember thinking I had never done anything more stupid in my lifetime.  This too shall pass.  Now, 160 pounds lighter, I am seriously considering a TT and am worried that it will hurt too much  lol.   Hang in there, it gets better!!

My dearest Lynne:  I'm so sorry; but, I had to laugh when I read your message!  I had surgery on 02/28/08 and I'm living proof, you'll have good days and really bad ones.  I thought I was the only WLS patient going through so much damn pain.  My PCP is wonderful and anything I ask for (pain meds) he gives me a prescription!  My left side is still hurting somewhat and can only lie on my back to sleep.   Have someone get you some Gas-X - that saved my life from bloating.  At almost 4 weeks out - I'm having problems tolerating certain foods and still in pain.  I must admit, Lynne, each day gets just a little bit better!!!! Carol,  Thanks for the message.  I am doing sooooo much better.  I was ready for pain but I was blow away at how much pain I was in.  I latter found out that the surgeon had to cut scar tissue all the way down my stomach on the inside due to a galbladder surgery I had 20 years ago, before they did them lap.   I also was given a script for liquid morphine and no one could fill it and I threw up liquid tylenol so I had no pain meds.  I was beside myself with misery and I had a horrible experience in the hospital which I'm sure just set me up for rough time emothionally as well as physically.  Thanks for you post I hope your doing fine.  I actually went back to work today !  It went pretty well, I just got really tried real fast.   God Bless, Lynne C
