OT: lost my diamond ring

I should have known better than to risk it... I have lost so much weight that my rings are all too big (and my knuckles aren;t any bigger than the back of my finger, so there isn;t much to help hold a ring on if it doesn't fit)... and earlier this week my diamond anniversary ring (10 stones in 2 rows) just fell off somewhere between lunch and my pedicure appointment (and I didn't notice)!   I am heartbroken.  I retraced my steps as best I could, looking in parking lots, etc. and have given my name and phone number to people at all the places I was at, but I'm pretty sure no one is going to turn it in.  I'm so mad at myself for not getting something to help hold it on or just taking it off until I could get it sized... and now it's gone forever. I have been so upset that I haven't even been able to eat -- anything solid causes pain or nausea -- so I have been living off of milk, yogurt, and protein shakes this week. I want my ring back... I am so sorry to hear about your loss.  Is it possible you had the ring insured?  If it was scheduled, mysterious disappearance is a covered loss with a zero deductible. Yeah, you might guess, I am an insurance agent. Good luck. Linda

I kinda know what you are going through. I lost a stone out of my anniversary band and still haven't replaced it. I have another ring on my right hand but it's not the same.  Call insurance and see if your covered.  Another disadvantage/advantage of WLS get rings repaired or replaces.

Thanks to both of you.  I did call the insurance company (despite hearing "horror stories" about extremely limited coverage on jewelery) and although there was no specific coverage for THAT ring, it can be covered under the general jewelery loss provision (up to $3000, minus my $500 deductible, of course). That makes me a little better, but not much.  It will help replace the ring with a different one, but I would still much prefer to have my old one back, of course. Lora

Lora,  I'm so sorry to hear about your ring.  I know just how you feel.  About 20 years ago I used to wear my grandmother's engagement  ring and I lost the stone in, of all places, an RV parking lot.  It wasn't a very big stone but the ring was at least 75 years old and I am a very  sentimental person.  I cherished that ring.  In fact, shame on me, I knew the stone was loose, but I didn't trust anyone to fix it.  I was scared they would change the stone out. On the lighter side.  My husband lost his college ring shoveling snow this past weekend.  Low and behold we were going somewhere and I went down the drive way .  There it was sitting in the driveway almost to the street. I hope something can be done about your ring.  Once again, I'm soo sorry. Peggy

I am so sorry you lost your ring! I too would be very upset!! I have already decided if/when I am able to have my surgery, I will take my rings off because I refuse to lose them. I love jewerly and I have some that I will not mind to lose but my wedding set, anniversary ring and mothers ring are not going to be on my fingers.

So sorry about your loss. I know how sick it can make you feel. I lost the setting out of my grandmother's mother's ring. I was sick but eventually found it.  I have lost 2 rings in the past few weeks. They weren't as valuable as yours but still. I like my Jewelry. One was a thumb ring I have not had off my thumb in at least 8 years. No sentimental value but a good excuse to go jewelry shopping.
