support group

Hi There! Does anyone know of a good WLS support group in the Columbus area? I had my surgery about 3 weeks ago at the Cleveland Clinic, but would like to find something closer to where I live for ongoing support. Thanks for your help!

How did it go.. going thru Clev clinic... I am working with Dr Chand... hoping for surgery by summer...I'd love to here about your experiences there. PLus-- do you go to the support group there once a month... I've been.

Hi Becca! Good luck with your pre-surgery process.  I hope it all works out for you to have surgery this summer.  I am about a month out and I could not be more pleased.  I really loved the cleveland clinic.  They were wonderful.  Every once in a while, you will encounter someone at the Clinic who doesn't really seem to like their job or their life, but for the most part, the people and the service are exceptional.  One suggestion, when you see the nutritionist, ask for Wendy.  I have seen three different ones and she is the best (and the nicest).   I went to Cleveland Clinic because my mom lives in the cleveland area, and is who helped me after my surgery (since I couldn't even wipe my own bottom for a few days...very akward...but I guess that is what moms do, no matter how old we get! ha ha ha).  But the Clinic is about 3 hours from my house, so it is difficult to get there for the support group.  I spend so much on gas just getting there for my appointments! I had Dr. schauer and think the world of him, but have heard great things about dr. chand as well.  I don't think you can go wrong at the Cleveland Clinic.  They really know what they are doing.  I have been very impressed with their program.
