Okay guys, I am eligible for helathy families, which will give me the medical card, (monlia, caresource or anthem. I think those are the opions) well I have to chose one. Does anyone know a doctor that will take this, and which one? If you know the doctor and what they take, PLEASE SHARE with me!!

You can look up my docs at  www.premierbariatricassociates.com On the right hand side, you can click on "insurance" to see which they cover.  They are FABULOUS! And, only about an hour and half from Chillicothe (very easy straight shot on rt 35 to Dayton).

Others may be able to help you more...but it seems I have read that it is difficult to get approval for WLS through Caresource.  Thus it sounds like you are doing the smartest thing in finding a surgeon first.  Good Luck in your pursuit!

I have paramount advantage and was approved in less than a day once I had the other stuff under my belt.  The surgeon here in Toledo accepted it with no problem.

I am guessing paramount advantage is one of the HMO's the state offers? What all did you have to do, before submitting letter to have it approved?

Yep, paramount advantage is through the state.  I went through the psych eval, 1st appt w/surgeon, two nutrionist appts and the seminar.  I had to have a 5 yr weight history and a referral from my doc and that was it, got it all done in about 2 months, they sent in for approval and it came back the same day.  I got scheduled for surgery the same day.

I would definately recomend Molina.  I started this trek four years ago and at the time I had my own insurance.  My insurance company cancelled my policy. I became eligable for medicad and after waiting for eight months was turned down, I switched to Care Source because I had hear awful things about Molina and I was turned down, I switched to Molina and was aproved in three weeks.  I have not  had any problems finding doctors or specialists that take Molina either.  In the Dayton area  Dr. Allison Clairy and Dr. David Bruce take molina and they are a center of excellence. Good luck & God Bless Lynne C
