DS/medicaid

Do any of you know if medicaid will cover the DS surgery? Thanks!

Hi Bobbie! I'm not sure but I've asked for information from other DSers.  I know that Medicare now approves the DS...not sure about Medicaid.  Hopefully, someone will chime in soon with some more info for you.

I'm doing great!  Thanks for asking! How exciting...this Thursday!  Hopefully, you can get the DS covered. I wish I had more information for you but they will certainly be able to answer all your questions there. Best of luck to you...you're in good hands though!

I'm not sure if I know exactly what medicaid is, BUT, I believe it is the term assigned to medical care provide through some sort of 'public assistance' type program.  In my state, that would be Medical Assistance (generally run through a county Social Service office) and Minnesota Care, which is a broader provider that provides medical assistance to people without access to medical insurance.  MN Care does have an income/asset limit, but is higher than the SS type, and there is a premium to pay, albeit small.  I have MN Care, and it DID pay for my DS.  I'm sure the programs and policies in your state may differ some, but, I believe as a general statement, the answer would be yes.  Medicare is a huge factor in what is covered by Medicaid and all other insurance carriers, and Medicare covers the DS. That is awesome! Good Luck! I am actually going no where now!!  The doctor of my choice is no longer a provider for my insurance. I am back to sqare one, and just feel like crying!! My primary insurance will not cover a thing. So I applied to JFS and I am aprroved. I just have to pick one of the HMO's, so I am trying to find a doctor that will take one of the state insuracne(caresource or anthem) I plan on calling a few places tomorrow!! I would really like to get going on this, but it seems impossible!!!  BTW I have family over in that area! I use to ride 4 wheelers over there!
