Hi everyone, Went for my preop and got some new info that I'm curious about. This will probably something Dr. Lane's patients may be able to answer. How long before surgery did you take the fleet? How does iy affect you? Do you drink the whole bottle? I don't want to show up for surgery with uncontrollable pooping! Maybe some people could tell me about how long they were in the hospital, just so I have some idea. Surgery is coming up fast and is becoming more real everyday. Spent time today getting some stuff for after surgery, drinks, food, etc. My sister had the rny at Columbus, she had to give herself bloodthinner shots for 5 days after she came home! Her surgion did a thoughtful thing, he gavr all px that she would need after she went home so she could have them and not need to stop on the way home. I thought that was a great idea. Any info sure would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Good Luck on you upcoming surgery.   I didn't have to do any "prep" before so otheres can answer that.  All I had to do was nothing no food or drink after midnight. Then surgery the next day.  My doc also gave me all by post op RX at our last pre op office visit.  That was really great because I could really go over the meds and understand them and also tell my hubby when I was to take them and what they were for. You could ask your doc and see if they will give them to you a day or so before and have them ready.  If I remember right I also had a blood thinner but mine was a pill or tab.  It's to help with not forming blood clots. Most people stay in the hospital anywhere from 1-4 days. It really depends on you, your doc, and insurance.  Again good luck and keep those questions coming.  Robin

Hi Linda, I worked until 4 pm on the day before then went home and drank the Fleet.     The worst of it was done before I went to bed and I did get up a couple of times in the night and went once in the morning.   I had to be at the hospital at 9:30 and surgery was at 11:30 and I told them I had went in the morning.    I think I mixed the Fleet with to much water and then I had more to drink.   I'll be honest I got it all down but it doesn't taste very good.      My surgery was on Tuesday and because I couldn't make the little gas pass I didn't get to go home until Saturday.   I only had the blood thinner while I was in the hospital.   The only prescription Dr. Lane sent me home with was for protonix for the stomach.  We stopped at pharmacy and filled it on the way home.   Of course you probably should have gotten your list of vitamins from Kinsey and I had them on hand for when I got home.   They did send me home with everything I needed to keep the dressing on the drain changed after my shower each day.    Feel free to send me a message with any questions.  Good luck I'm excited for you!! Melissa
