New to website...Starting process of having Lap Band Surgery
Hello everyone. I am 32yrs old and from Ottawa County. I am hoping to meet others in the area who have had Lap Band Surgery/will be having it. I am just starting the process of it. I go to the seminar in Feb at St Lukes Hospital in Maumee. I plan on having Dr Duckett do my surgery, so if anyone has had him please give me any details/suggestions you can. I am very nervous about this, but it is something I need to do for myself. I want to be able to enjoy life and not feel like I have to hide in a shell all the time cause of my weight. Also, have a lot of family hx w/ diabetes, heart problems, etc and don't want to have to live like that. I want to feel good about myself and have tried numerous times to diet. Lose a little, but gain twice as much back. So I have decided to look into Lap Band Surgery to help me gain my self confidence back, but also improve my health overall. I am open to anything anyone is willing to share about their experiences w/having the surgery or the process of starting out like I am. I think it is wonderful there are sites on here like this to help everyone including me out...........If there are certain places on this website that would help me starting out please help direct me there. I've been just clicking away at different things to try to learn about the surgery, but getting myself confused. Thanks for your time
Welcome Mollie!
Have you gone to the Band Forum? You'll find a Forums menu up above and then you'll find a listing of the different procedures. When you click on LapBand, it will give you a description about the surgery, then to the left, you'll find a link for the messageboard, where oodles of bandsters are waiting to answer all of your questions.

Mollie....I read that you are considering Dr. Duckett at the St. Luke's hospital in Maumee, Ohio. I was checking out bariatric surgeons in my area, and he was the closest to me who takes Medicare.
Have you had your consultation with Dr. Duckett yet, and if so, how do you rate him as for as personality wise? Do you think he has the qualifications for a good bariatric surgeon and do you know how many of these lap band surgeries he's done so far?
I, too, have a lot of questions before I decide who to call for my surgery. Any information would really be appreciated.
