And it's a GO for my RNY surgery IF I can pass the tests the surgeon wants me to have (stress, pulmonary & colonoscopy). So it looks like I have lots to do to help pass the time.

gosh I am worn out trying to make arrangements for tests etc. whew! I slept most of the day and night after I got home yesterday. I was wiped out. Must have been stress and worry? I was an inch shorter and 9 pounds less at Barix! So instead of 140 to lose it's 133 or something like that. haha

Back to the phone calls

Take care

Congrats.  So what did you think about Barix then?  I think you will like it.

Hi Paula!

I was going to pm you later today. I liked Dr Custer and the facility is very nice. I am starting to jump through hoops (scheduling tests) because my insurance changed. My sleep dr is not "in network" and it is going to cost me a chunk of change to get his clearance. If I go to someone "in network" they will want to do another sleep study. Catch 22?

I think I will go to the meeting there on the 17th if it doesn't snow or something. I might as well get involved.

I am going to do the RNY-Lap if I pass the tests he wants done and the insurance OKs it.

I will get back with you later. I got to get some calls in and my computer is acting up. Of course all of this stuff is online now.

Take care

Good luck with getting all of the clearances. I know it's a pain!!  Did you already have a sleep study done?  I was just curious since you said that you have a sleep doctor.  If they have already diagnosed you with sleep apnea, then all they need to do is fax that to Barix.  Do you use a CPAP machine.  If so, then you should be fine on that clearance then.  Just have him fax it over. I think that was my only clearance I needed to have done other than doing the 3-6 month diet/exercise/behavioral modification program.

Hi Paula ...

I am a lot older than you and have several health issues.

Fortunately I got lucky and found a DR "in network" who does sleep, pulmonary and the pysch evaluation so that's 3 of the issues with one DR. I am hoping the sleep study I had done 10 months ago will be acceptable. Dr Custer wants a follow-up with the sleep dr for a clearance and to make sure that my cpap settings are correct, etc. I would assume that the sleep study can be faxed to the new sleep dr. If I go to the one who did the study it will be a big chunk of change since he is not "in network".

I have to have a pulmonary clearance since I have COPD. This DR I am being referred to is also certified to do the psych. eval. for WLS patients.

I also have to have a stress test and cardiology clearance so I am having my PCP get that referred to some DR "in network".

I thought he had marked colonoscopy on the sheet but he didn't. I am going to have it done anyway since I am over 50 and they are going to be messing with my colon when they do the RNY.

So I got everything in gear. I just hope the insurance approves it. I will be very disappointed since my health is getting worse with all of these comorbidities popping up. It's kinda like NOW OR NEVER.

You have a lot to do to pass the time!  Hahaha .. that's rich. Good on you for getting this going.  The prep appts are a challenge to coordinate, but then they are DONE!  And you can press on with other things.  Like getting ready for surgery.   Sounds like you have a lot on your plate, healthwise, so this will be good for you.  You said you have a sleep doctor.  So you have a CPAP or BiPAP too?  I sleep with a CPAP and am so looking forward to not having one .. hopefully that will come to pass. Keeping good thoughts for you, Helen! Janice
