Requesting an angel

Hi everyone.  I posted this same message out on the main board by accident.  What do you want from a list newbie?  Anyway, I am going through the process of all the things I have to do in order to obtain insurance approval for my surgery.  I have had my initial appointment with my surgeon, and saw the psychologist last week.  The psychologist recommended that I come out to this forum and request an angel.  So that is what this post is for.  HOPEFULLY I'm in the Ohio forum this time.  I'm in Columbus...anyone else out there from Columbus?  I would also like to just talk with anyone who's had the surgery, whether through the message board here or on the phone or in person.

I am not from the Columbus area, however I am always up to meeting new WLS members.  I could be your  if no one locally volunteers. Of course there would have to be a person that would contact me with the information as to how you were doing after your surgery so that I could post and make sure that everyone here would also know how you were.   So do you have any idea when your surgery will be scheduled?  I had my RNY October 15, 2007 in Cleveland. Hi Terri.  How kind of you...thank you for your offer.  I'll let you know if I'm unable to find anyone locally.   How are you doing since your surgery?  Looks like you've lost a significant amount of weight.  What was the surgery like for you?  And how has it been to follow the eating guidelines since? Hi Kym! Just wondering which surgery you're having...the lapband, the RNY, the sleeve, or the duodenal switch (DS)? I'm close to Columbus (about 30 miles south), but chose to pick a Dayton surgeon because he offered all the weight loss procedures and not just a couple.  He also does them lap and not open.   

Hi Sylvia, I'm so glad to hear from somebody close to my neck of the woods!  And it looks like your surgery is about to take place.  I wish you the very best of luck. I am having RNY.  When I first started looking into it, I was considering the lap band, but as I attended seminars and did more research, RNY seemed to be the better option for me.  My surgeon agrees.  I am having it done at Mt. Carmel by Dr. Patricia Choban.   Thanks for your response. Kym

Hi again! I checked into the Groveport Bariatrix clinic, OSU and Mt. Carmel.  But, none of them did the DS.  Have you researched the duodenal switch? I know NONE of the surgeons at any of the places in Columbus even mentioned them initially. I had to ask and then got some misinformation.  I've discovered that if a surgeon doesn't do the switch, they usually don't have the best information. I was so glad I found the forum on here, as the DS is certainly the best surgery for me. If you're interested, you can go to the DS forum and visit.
