Full Liquid Menus for Post-op
Happy Holidays Everyone!!!
My Lap Band surgery is tomorrow (12/26). I will be on full-liquids during the first 2 weeks. I have created my 1st week post-op menu; however I wanted to see if everyone could share an example of their full-liquid menu with me. Please include protein totals as well if possible.
Thanks so much for all of your help. Wish me luck!
Regards,
Marie
God's protection be on you during your surgery today!
I'm praying that way for you!
Here is all the stuff I eat & ate on my pre-op & post-op full liquid diet:
Hi - Protein (low carb) drinks - like LOW CARB Slimfast, (We use the blender with ice to make a shake - mix a scoop in the slimfast to boost its protein content - add soy milk if too thick) I have partially froze it to make a sort of ice cream Isopure Zero Carb Protein or Pro Complex Protein (50-55 grams of protein/serving mixed w/water)buy it at GNC
- 2 vitamins(chewable sugar free Flinstones - they're like having gummy treats!)
- 2 calcium (Tums) chews
- soy milk in regular/vanilla/chocolate (Lite Continent 8 brand) (TO MIX W/PROTEIN POWDER )
- low sodium/fat Free soups (like tomato, FF cream soups-say 98% Fat free (mostly Cambell's brand)
- sugar free & fat-free popcicles, puddings, fudge bars and jello cups -Walmart has all of these - doesn't matter what brand (10-12 carbs or less - or don't buy it or plan on eating only a 1/2 at a time)
- natural applesauce (the granny smith flavor 6 pack by Mott's is good - they also have natural regular flavor)
- Swanson's & College Inn low sodium liquid broth-beef or chicken)
- green tea - hot or brewed for iced tea (naturally decaf only) -flavored Clestial Seasonings FRUIT teas witha teaspoon of Splenda (Blueberry is to die for - like drinking a liquid dessert)
- low carb juices veggie & fruit (less than 10 carbs a serving) Usually says "Lite" on the bottle - (Walmart has some Sam's choice brands)
- Sugar free hot chocolate (Swiss Miss in a canister)
- Sugar free hot cider in a box (Walmart by the hot choc)
- Sugar/fat free hard candies to suck on(sparingly) & SF gum - best sugar free hard candies is at the Dollar General Store for $1 a bag in fruit and butterscotch flavors I also like SF Baskin Robbins chocolate mint flavor at Walmart
- Blue Bunny Lowfat no sugar yogurt (some of the Weigh****chers are too high in Carbs, unless you eat 1/2 at a time-White Chocolate raspberry is divine!) - Cream of Wheat instant made runny and sweetened with Splenda Brown Sugar - I drink it in a mug
- Pulverized in blender or processor until smooth FF or Low Fat Cottage Cheese (MIchigan brand is the best flavor)
- fat free sugar free International french vanilla instant decaf coffee (I only drank this the 1st week of the fast- no coffee at all during the entire fast
I've been attempting to get about 50 grams of Protein a day between all these foods.
Personally, I like the Mrs Dash tomato basil garlic flavor in my tomato soup.
I use the regular Mrs Dash in my chicken broth.
I have also just used beef broth to thin out my low sodium tomato soup.
Also, I have added low sodium tomato juice to my beef broth.
I do not use boullion - too salty - I can't find any low sodium
Plus I chew 2-4 fiber tablets and use Benefiber in my hot tea (not Beneprotein - but it's good to use for yogurts, puddings & cold drinksto boost protein level)
I also have utilized the ProteineX 18 product. If at the end of the day I didn't quite reach the 50 grams of protein mark - I take a dose of the ProteineX 18. I also have used the chewables at 6 gms of protein each (Vanilla flavored.)
I've discovered I really like soy milk - all flavors - what a surprise! Be blessed, Lori

by now you are on your way to your new life! sending prayers and best wishes!
i chose to buy unlavored whey protein in a canister (thru bariatriceating.com i think but may be available at wally's) and mixed it into sf puddings and my soups--it boosts the protein and there is no flavor....i found it cheaper to make my own sf pudding and put it into small styro cups for indiv servings -my family knew they had to stay out cuz it was mine and i felt like i was "cooking" but didn't have the clean up afterwards!
i'm an rny-my surgeon wanted me on 68 gms protein asap so i boosted alot of things with unflavored protein- i still -at 3+ years- do drink protein shakes most days to be sure that i am getting enough....
