Hi, my name is Jennifer and I live in the Columbus area.  I work at Riverside Hospital and I am starting the process of getting the gastrc sleeve done.  I just wanted to know if anyone has had it done or if you know anybody who has had it done?

Hi, I had it done 7 months ago and I've lost 104 pounds now!  It has been wonderful!  PM me if you need any specific info or visit the VSG board and you can get all your questions answered there.  Best to you in your journey.

Jennifer, I'm also going in for the sleeve.  There's a great group right here on OH who've had the sleeve.  Just go to Surgery types then click on Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. Veronica

I too had the sleeve I will be 7 mths old tomrrow.  You can PM me if you like.  I too hang out on the vertical sleeve forum mostly.  It is more active, and helpful since that is what we all have done or are doing they have helped me alot. Linda

Hi, this is Dr. Rodriguez at Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati. The sleeve gastrectomy also known as the gastric sleeve and vertical slleve gastrectomy is an excellent weight loss operation. It is a mid way operation between the Gastric bypass and the lap Band. It is a restrictive surgery that makes you full quickly when you eat. It does not produce dumping syndrome like the GBP. Unlike the band, there is no foreign body to worry about and no fills to fiddle with. The sleeve has results half way between the bypass and the band. Meaning folks experience about a 60% excess body weight loss.  The one thing that is very exciting about the sleeve, is that it has results very similar to the GBP when it comes to curing diabetes. The sleeve gastrectomy is a great weight loss surgery for those folks who do not want the GBP, but wnat better results than the Lap Band. Unfortunately all the insurance carriers in this area are not paying for it. That fact may de different for self-insured program. Most folks in the USA are apying for it themselves to obtain the surgery. If you are interested in sleeve surgery, please visit www.newyourealyou.com or call 513-559-2545 for more information. Good luck and good health.
