Out of pocket fees too high

I have Kaiser Permanente Insurance.  I have to pay a $25 Copay on all appointments and 20% of my labwork and surgery up to $4000.00 including paying almost $200 a month for the insurance - and after that i dont even get to PICK my surgeon.  They only have one surgeon who does all lap band surgeries and it HAS to be done at Parma hospital who I have had bad experiences with in the past... on top of a 8 month minimum waiting period. My sister is also on Caresource insurance and only makes around $150 a month from working and goes to school full time.  She just asked me the other day if WLS is covered so this question and answers actually helped me a lot!   Thanks Everyone! Off topic from the pricing.. But they have a Lap Band surgeon at Parma Hospital?  With all the stupid answers I have been getting from radiology and gastroentronology I am surprised to hear that.  What is the doc's name? Amanda

Andrea, I just had surgery at Cleveland Clinic. I chose Cleveland, even though Dr. Z is much closer, because they do not charge the upfront program fees. Give them a call. You are probably less than an hour away from the clinic. A very doable drive in my opinion. Good luck where ever you go. Shari
