New people - how to get started on here?

Hi!  I'm new.   Would appreciate any tips you have for navigating the site - any little gems of wisdom that aren't obvious!  I'm pre-op with no date yet, so I'm just getting the ball rolling!  There seems to be a million people on here which is good, but it also seems a little overwhelming! Can I get an angel now, or do I have to wait until the surgery date is set?  Thanks everyone!

Hi there Newbie I would think you can have an angel now.. however, you may want to get an angel that has had the same surgery you are going to have.  Example.. I am a banded person.. I wouldn't be much help to an RNYer or DSer.

Well you found this board.. there are age board, surgery specific boards, sexual issues boards, insurance boards, etc..  The entire universe is here lol I haven't looked yet.. but if you haven't already, fill out your profile.  You dont have to tell us the world, just alittle about you. Hi Trixie! I would say to start looking at each of the forums by procedure and learn as much as you can about each of them.  They are not one-size-fits-all, so different physiologies will get different results.  This will help you maximize your chances of success.  Ask questions on those message boards to get many choices of procedure-specific answers.  Of course, you can ask questions here and the main board to get a good mix of answers too. 

I am new, too. Just getting started.  I am overwhelmed with all the information posted.  I don't know what I will need and what I won't.  People have been very help with my questions.  I check here, the lapband forum, and the over 50.  I'm sure you will find what you need.        Jean
