SOOOOO Now your FIGHT begins.  You need to find out EXACTLY why did they denie you. Was it some missing paper work??? An exclusion in the policy???| Once you find out you can fight and APPEAL. Don't give up yet that is what insurance companies want you to do.  Tell us more and we will try and help.  Robin

Well they just said I was denied. They said they will send me and my surgeon a letter tom. I think it is because I don't have ANY health problems, but my BMI is almost seventy. They say its covered if medically necc.? I will call tom. to see what the surgeons office says we should do next. Thanks

I didn't have any co morbities either. It sounds like some paper work is missing to me.  Did you write your own letter of MEDICAL NECESSITY.  I did look at my profile. Wait for the letter that tells you exactly why and then give them all the MEDICIAL NECESSITY REASONS to have WLS. You just have hit a big bump in this long road.  Like I said before insuracne companies want a fight GIVE THEM ONE!!!!!!!!!! Keep up posted,  Robin

thank-you robin. Im happy to hear you got approved with no problems. I asked if i should write my own letter at my doctors appointment and they said no, but i will if you think that would help. By the way, you look great, totally like a diffrent person! Thanks-amy

I am so sorry you got denied.  That's a reality check for me because I haven't been approved yet either.

Don't give up on it.  I hope you hear from a lot of people who got denied 1st and approved 2nd.  It seems like sometimes the insurance companies automatically deny with the hopes you don't try again.  Saves them $.

Hang tight!

If you have surgical weight loss benefits and a BMI of 70, something is not right.  Unless you have CareSource, they want you to be near death before they'll approve weight loss surgery any more. UMMMM.I do have Caresource!! And I'm not at all near death, I don't have any health problems. Is there any chance of getting it approved? Why did the Clinic make me go through all the nine months of stuff if they knew it was no hope? Please help..... :(   Amy

I just found out today that I was denied for the second time. I have most of the medical requirements and I'm plenty fat!!! I completed all the requirements with the dietician and they are now telling me AGAIN this is not enough I have been going to a dietician since April of '06 what more can they want!!!! The Lead at the insurance company couldn't even advise me of what more is needed since everything was in. I completed every requirement OSU required and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of IL sent me!! I am so at a loss and really could use some advise, and some suport really could help to. I need help I'm not dealing to well with the second denial.

Oh, sorry- that sucks! I don't understand all this insurence stuff myself. I can tell you keep trying because  I've heard people on here say it took 3, 4, even 5 appeals and then got approved. You might as well keep appealing, with your surgeons help. Thats my plan. Sorry, I know thats not much help. Don't give up. Amy
