I'm wanting the Lap band surgery, but I take a couple of meds every day (Zestral for High blood pressure and Coumadin for History of blood clots).  I know that if I get below 200 lbs I won't have t take the coumadin anymore, and I know the surgery should correct the HP problem, but will I still be able to take these meds after surgery without chopping them up and drinking them???

Ganny, I've done a lot of bands, but I rarely come across a patient who can't swallow their pills whole.  I would agree with you that the goal though is to come off of them forever. Thanks for answering me, Doc!!  I'm going for my first appointment with Dr. Schauer on Monday October 15th, and I don't want to go into this looking foolish for wanting the Lap band with too many health problems.
