Hi Everyone, I am wanting doctor Schumacher in Miamisburg to do my gastric sleeve...The problem I have is I live in Georgia..I've called up there three times this summer and they took my address to send me a packet...I never got it..So, I thought I would wait until fall to get someone in Georgia.. To my dismay the docs opted out of Medicare..The one who will take it will want  $2800.00 up front out of pocket.. I'm back to Schumacher who I believe is a good doc...I did call yesterday to his office to get a feel for how long an out of state person would need time wise before surgery.. She was kind and gave me a number to the new patient appointment evaluation..I have not called it  yet..But will Monday to get a feel for time..I can only stay at my Mothers for two weeks...She has a policy at her senior apts. that only allows a visitor to stay that long. I'm having to get an idea of how long from the first appointment to surgery to make other arrangements for lodging. I may need to rent a place. If you would email me about how long it took you...... Thanks, Kathryn

You mean from meeting the surgeon to the actual surgery date?  Mine was like 4-5,  I hadn't started my 4 week class yet adn my surgery was the week following the end of my 4-week class...

After two weeks, you may tire easily, but you'll be off pain meds.  Once you have your two week checkup with no complications, they usually give you the go-ahead to go home.

Hi there, I have medicare also it seems to move faster with that insurance. I would say 2 to 4 wks.  I had a differant surgery than the ryn so I couldnt say much on the healing .  The ladies in the office are wonderful if you explain to them you situation I am sure they could help you.  I do know that they meet on Thursdays to gp through your file and give ok they think your a good canidate (they meaning th doc and his staff)  I will tell ya I didnt have to go through any special 4 wk classes or anything .  The only class was on the day of blood work there was also a couple hour long educational class.  Anything I can help ya with just ask.  He is great I felt and still feel safe with him
