Paramount Advantage in Lucas County
I'm on the Paramount Advantage medicaid line and was referred to Dr. White through the Toledo Hospital from my family doc (who operates out of Flower Hospital) and was curious if anyone has had any experience with Dr. White or the TTH Bariatric program - particularly if my physician is correct in her assumption that Paramount will cover WLS if I meet the specific criteria.
I'm scheduled for the September seminar, but I'm really itching to find out if I'm just out of luck on all of this right now.
Hi! I am a patient of Dr Whites and I have to say he is great! Not a big talker but he does care! He is a great surgeon and you are in good hands! I am a Paramount member, not the Advantage line and they paid for my surgery. I will have a small copay I think but have not received a bill yet. I have heard of peopl on the Advantage line that have been approved and had no copay. My approval came in one day once it was submitted. I am very excited for you and you will never be sorry! I am 6 weeks out and have lost 38#! It is so worth anything you have to go through to get here!! Good luck!!
I just went to the August seminar with dr white and it was PACKED! I mean jam packed with people! And paramount advantage seems to be awesome. All u need is a 40+ BMI, and a 5 year documented weight history, ur psych exam and bamb! ur in the door! I have it, and i feel blessed to have this awesome opportunity. I havent been approved yet, because i still have to do my psy. exam. scheduled that now!!! that way you can have everything in by the seminar and....be approved. You surgery will be booked sooner than mine (november) because i have to be 3 months smoke free. Ok...im having some troubles with that today. Most days im smoke free.
best of luck to ya
Thank you all so much! That's a huge concern off my chest. :) Does the documented weight have to be with the same doctor? I've only been seeing my current PCP for about three years, but do have history prior to that.
As for the pysch eval, who can I schedule that through? I've dealt with Harbor in the past and wouldn't mind going through them if possible.
I don't believe it has to be with the same Dr. Get started with your psych appt though. Sometimes it takes awhile to get in. Yes, you can go through Harbor. They recommend them. Also Dr. Muehlisen, but if you already have someone use them! Good luck and I will save you a seat on the loser's bench!!

For my documented weights I ended up using three doctors. 1 was my pcp. 2 were different obgyns. They don't care as long as the weights are signed / stamped by the doctor. ( prefferably on letter head paper or something from a computer generated file with doctor info. Francine
