OT-colleges
So my daughter is starting her senior year of high school and the decisions about college are needing made...just wondering if anyone has a fave college, or opinion on a college in Ohio. She is probably going to major in Music/Art education. I would like for it to be reasonable affordable - but am willing to research any suggestions.
Currently she is looking at OU-Athens, Capital, maybe Wright State (but I can find NO evidence of a marching band - one of her joys). She plays flute, and Ohio State's marching band is a brass band - so no help there...not that marching band makes or breaks it ya know.
So, anyone??

Kent State has a good music/art program at least they did when I was there. They also have a marching band. I started out at Kent State and really enjoyed my time there. From what I have heard they have done a lot to the campus to keep up with the times. Good luck helping her make a decision.

Kim
Our high school marching band director came from BOLWING GREEN. I don't thing Wright State has marching band I think they might have a pep band for basketball but I'm not sure. Good Luck, Robin

Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio has an outstanding music program, art education program, and they just restarted their marching band after a many-year hiatus. B-W has an extremely fine music conservatory with an extremely strong education program. I can't speak to the affordability, as I attended B-W in the late 80's, when a college education was much more affordable. They did offer pretty good financial aid when I attended, so depending on your situation that may make this an affordable choice. Berea is a nice college town within 25 minutes of downtown Cleveland.
Here's a link to B-W's website -> http://www.bw.edu/
In terms of other local colleges with music education programs, you may also want to check out Wooster, Cleveland State University, and Oberlin. I don't know anything about their art education programs or whether they have marching bands, but all three offer a strong music education program.
Good luck finding a college that's a good fit for your daughter!
