Fresh Start Frustration
Anyone else using Fresh Start feel that they are not responsive? I do not find them very responsive. I have asked very little of them, but what I have asked does not get done. I need them to call LabCorp and change the diagnosis on my bloodwork to something besides "Obesity". - like "hypertension". I left a voice mail - it went unanswered for over a week. I got a live voice and asked for the help in person - got a resounding "sure". Two weeks later - the diagnosis has not been changed - and I still owe $721.00 for bloodwork that could be covered.
I have my last nutrition visit on 8/20 - and then I think I am ready to have my paperwork sumitted to my insurance company...I am really worried that if I have a true need that they will not be there to help.
Anyone else have this same issue?
Hang in there - I had the same issue - emails and phone calls went ignored. I finally got ahold of a gal who did the insurance submittal (Cheri) and she was great. You may want to go to the office and talk to someone live. Good luck - I ended up getting denied so I'm headed to Mexico for my procedure.
I know it doesn't help you fix your problem but know that yours is not a unique experience unfortunately. Maybe your therapist or nut can help you navigate beyond Annie's voicemail and email.

Gosh, this is not the experience I had w/ Fresh Start. I thought they were on the ball w/ everything. Did you talk to Yvonne. Anything I asked her to do, it was taken care of. I admit Cheri was a gem. Voicemails were answered in a timely manner. And Dr. Myers was and still is the greatest. I'm sorry you are having problems as I have recommended them to numerous people already.
Good luck in the future.
I sent another email to Yvonne Friday.
I am really concerned that if I have an issue post surgery that I will not get the help I need. They seem very superficial - helpful and caring on the phone - ignore you once you are off the phone. I am in a different situation than most. The day I went for my eval, I was the only one...Dr Myers and Annie were on vacation. I completed my paperwork for Dr. Toll and was provided an envelope to put them on the desk. There was NO ONE left in the office. I have not even met Dr. Myers other than the information session in November.
I asked Annie to fax my bloodwork to my PCP -she told me to call the lab. The lab told me to call Dr. Myers and have them do it - already did that! Thank goodness my PCP has relationship with the lap and went and got it.
I was told I would be given Vitamin D pills before I left my eval - did not get them. Also have no idea if I am low on Vitamin D - no one has called me about my bloodwork from JUNE 22nd.
A lady my husband works with is having a great experience at Mt Carmel. Thinking about talking to them. What I am doing at Fresh Start must transfer.
VERY frustrated!
I think they (the office, Annie might be in everyday) are in Columbus on Tuesday and Thursday's. They are in Mansfield the rest of the day's of the week. I was one of the early one's. I had my surgery in March. I checked into a few other programs and Fresh Start by far was the best. I know they are having growing pains because they have only been in Columbus since November. I was turned down buy my insurance company and 2 days later Dr. Myers made a call for me and I was approved that afternoon. How many doctors do you know would do that for you?
I have gotten very good response from Fresh Start -- calls always returned the same day, etc and it makes me mad that they are not helping you out! I will be going to McConnell tomorrow to work out (right next to their office). Let me know if I can stop in for you!!! (send me a note: [email protected]) Hang in there -- Dr. Myers is the best! Alex
Hi Maureen,
I had my surgery with Dr. Myers on January 31st and have had no negative issues with him or his staff. I think you may be running into the fact that they are working out of two offices. I would suggest calling tomorrow morning- it is one of their Columbus days. Dr. Myers is one in a million and you will be pleased in the long run with chosing FreshStart.
Take Care

I am glad you contacted them again. I started my journey with the OSU program but ended up chosing FreshStart. I am almost 7 months post op and have lost 92 lbs from my weight on surgery day. I know it is hard at this point because you just want to get your new life started. Hang in there and it will be worth all the hard work you are doing. The other thing to remember is FreshStart has a great support group after surgery too.
Take care and good luck,
Mary
I am a Barix Center patient, but my insurance changed and Dr meyer agreed to take me on, he has been great and the office staff has been good to me. I had a bowel obstruction and they have been patient with my questions on my recovery. Dr Meyer even gives you his cell phone number so you can reach him anytime... that is unheard of.. he is a great guy, you will not be sorry if you stay, let him know the issues you are having... he will look into it and try to make things better for everyone in the future.
Good luck!
Pam
