Ohio Medicaid/Caresource (need help now)
Hey guys,
I need advice ASAP. I had lap band surgery 9/06 in Chicago, IL. I haven't seen my surgeon since Oct 06. Since then I have relocated to Dayton, Ohio and I cannot find a doctor that will take me as a patient. Either they do not take Caresource (a medicaid hmo) or they don't take patients who had surgery elsewhere. I am at my wits end! I've only had 1 fill thus far and I have not lost much weight (maybe 30 or so pounds immediately post-op, but it all has come back). I'm nearly 400lbs (whew I said it....) and I need help to get on track and make this thing work. Also I am starting to have stomach discomfort and rashes at my port site, nothing to rush to the ER about(I hope), but I feel need to see a doctor soon. I get so frustrated with calling office after office only to be turned away, that I've given up. Anyone know of a local Lap doc who takes medicaid or caresource?? I am willing to travel if needed (Cincy, Columbus, ect). All help would be appreciated.
Have you tried calling the area hospital referral numbers to see if they are of any help?

Here's the OH site for all ohio doctors. You might just need to keep calling each one on the list. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeons+ in+ohio.html
Sorry I can't be on more help.

Have you tried Dr. Schumacker ( I know I just murdered his name) Kettering Bariatric Center. He is located in front of the Sycamore hospital there in Dayton he is wonderful, I beleive they take caresource. Is staff is wonderful they might be able to help you. I cant find his number right now but you can look him up on here ( under the find a surgeon link) I hope this helps, good luck

OSU is the only hospital that is paid for by medicare/caresource type insurances. I have a friend that is going through all the paperwork right now and that's what she has as well. I'd say try them. That might be the best bet. I know the Barix clinics don't deal with them so you'd have to pay 100% out of pocket if they'd even take you in.
