I researched 3 doctors and went to 2 info sessions before I made my mind up.  Go to as many as YOU NEED to.  If that's 5-10-20 whatever it takes to feel RIGHT about the doctor you choose.  Good Luck,  Robin

I'm using Dr. Kerlakian.  I got  a list of doctor's from my family physician and my cardiologist, cross referenced them and then looked on the internet for information about the doctor's.  I narrowed my search down that way, verified that they where actually on my insurance plan and then went to the seminar.  I liked him very much, both at the seminar and my initial consult, and decided to go with him.  But that was me.  I have great faith in my family doctor and my cardiologist so that made it somewhat easier for me to choose a surgeon.

Red...my total vote is for Dr. Curry, I went to visit a few Dr. and got a lot of advise from several people that already had their surgery.  Dr. Curry was funny and made me laugh but I also felt safe with him. He was honest about everything and told me he would be there for me if I ever needed him.  HE WAS....I was a major problem patient, many complications.  He would call me at home to check up on me, gave me his home number as well as his personal cell phone number.  No idea what I did with them now though..I have moved and lost so many things ( Don't worry Dr. C...if I find I wont share..LOL)...The office staff was also there for me all the time....But this is just one persons opinion.  Good luck in your research and go with the person that makes you feel safe, this is your life. Good for you for shopping around!  There are many great choices in the tri-state area.  Trust your instincts, seek out references, and go with your gut.

Another vote here for Dr. Curry and his staff (either one of them!!!!)  Have a friend who had surgery with Sonnastine and she liked him fine but did not do much follow through post-op (don't know if that was strictly her or the program). (-183 pounds/20 to go)

One of the big things you want to look at before picking your doctor is what is their follow up care program like -- too often people have the surgery fine and dandy but don't get great after care - I almost think that after care is more important than the surgery alone.  Any good surgeron can do the surgery but will they be there to support you down the road?
