Years After Roux-n-y Surgery
I had the roux-n-y surgery over seven years ago and since then I have gained back half of the 100 lbs that I had lost. I want to be able to stop gaining before I put it all back on. I am struggling with different diets to get it back off, none of the diets seem to be working. I really have a time with Atkins because I am not a heavy meat eater! Any suggestions or advice?
The problem is the insurance companies in Ohio don't want to cover the cost of anything to do with bariatrics. I can't afford to have the lap band and I didn't know that there was a revision for the roux-n-y surgery. What does that involve? I would think that there would be more risk or complications to have an additional surgery after having the original one.
Who is your insurance with? We have BCBS and both RNY and LapBand are covered. I'm still jumping through my hoops. I had everything together and my insurance company informed me that they wanted 6 months instead of 3 supervised weight loss. Soooooo I'm just about done with that. I am also looking into the verticle sleeve. I meet with Dr. Curry next Wednesday for that. I may be changing doctors.
To get back to the revision. I don't know exactly what is involved. I've just read that people have revisions. Now I have heard that people get their RNY banded. There are a few of those on the LapBand forum.
Good Luck,
Peggy
