I'm planning on doing the L.E.A.P. program at St. Vincents as part of my pre-reqs for my insurance. Anyone have any comments on the program if they went through?

I'm also somewhat worried about getting in as they supposidly only allow 10 people per 12 week course.

What is the LEAP program?  I went through the LEARN program  here in Bucyrus.  It was a 12 week weight loss program.  It was totally boring.  I didn't learn anything more than what I already knew.  Of course, it had a lot to do with the teacher.  There was no classroom participation. Hopefully yours will be more interesting.  Peggy

I remember hearing about the LEAP program when I first started going to the readiness classes at St. Vincent's.  I never knew a whole lot about it.  Well.....it just so happens that at my six week and three month checkups the nutrition part of the sessions were done by Peter who is the nutritionist for LEAP.  You are going to love him!!!!  If I had a dietician/nutritionist like him years ago, I might have been able to avoid the surgery.  He LOVES food!  He comes up with the best recipes and really stresses the fact that you have to eat!  Instead of just teaching the food groups -- he talks about real meals and finds out what you like and don't like to eat and thinks of these really great food ideas.  He doesn't care if you eat a sandwich for breakfast and an egg for dinner -- as long as you are getting in what you need for the day.  He also cooks up some great foods for the classes. Good luck.  I'll be thinking of you!
