Anyone having the DS?? In Ohio??

hi, my name is Jennifer & I considering revising from a lapband to the DS Surgery.  I am looking at getting Dr. Maguire to perform this.  Anyone else out there?? Thank you!

Hi Jen -- I live in the Cols. area and had RNY.  I don't know of any docs here who still do DS.  I have a friend who had it 4 years ago and she has chronic diarrhea -- a common side effect.  I would strongly encourage you to research it very carefully.  She is 4 years post op and is still scared to go to a restaurant or an outdoor event, etc. because of her bowels.  Good luck with your surgery journey! Dr. Maguire assisted in my RNY when he was with Dr. Rita Anderson. He is a very doc. Just do your research and all the good and bad points for any  WLS. If you can try to go the the support group meeting and talk to other DS'ers. and hear wht they have to say.  Good Luck,  Robin

I had Dr. Lane in Bowling Green and LOVE him!  (DH did too - he's one yr out)  I've heard good things about Dr. Maguire, too.  Good luck to you!! Kim

Kim,  I wish I could get Brian Lane to do my surgery as he is only 20 minutes at most from my house.  I live in maumee, but the hospital isn't covered by my insurance.  I'd love it.  So, I have to drive :-(.

Dr. Maguire is good from what I hear.  Have you checked out the DS forum here?  There are several there that have used him!  Good luck!

hi there, I had the vertical sleeve which from what I understand is / can be step one in the DS.  I had Dr. Shumacker in Miamisburg, his office is in front of Sycamore Hospital.  He is wonderful hoping I will not have to go in for the second stage .  But I am glad that the second stage option is there.  I believe he does the DS I know there was someone else there that day who had it done.  You may be able to get some help from the vertial sleeve forum some there have had or have reaserched this and maybe able to help you with all the info on this surg. Hey Jen, I think I answered you on the DS board, but Dr. Maguire is an ace.  My surgeon was a former colleague of his.

Jennifer, I had Dr Teel who works in the same office as Dr Maguire.  I've talked with Dr. Maguire a few times and he is fantastic.  I suggest you attend one of their seminars, if you can make the drive,  to learn more about a revision, they will answer any and all your questions.
