Hi all, It has been a long time since I've visited this site. I had surgery May 17th and am down 32 lbs. I have forgotton why we should not drink carbonated beverages. Can anybody help me on this? Also, I am looking for a book or other info on acceptable foods and suggested menu ideas for Lap Band patients. Thanks, ~Nancy

I am a bandster too.  You shouldn't drink carbonated beverages because it will cause a lot of air in your pouch and feel...well...bad.  That said, I know of some people who do it and it doesn't bother them.  I love pop, but I just can't do it.  It makes me miserable.  That was one of many changes I made before having the band and even with my full stomach, it felt bad.  As far as menus are concerned, you should be at a point where you can eat anything.  You should eat protein first, then veggies and if still hungry move on to carbs.  About a cup to a cup and a half of food should be a limit.
