Self pay

I am interested in having the lap band surgery and know I will have to self pay, I have attended the seminar at St Vincents and know the cost there to be $17,000.00.  Does anyone have any advice, information or opinion on cheaper states, or countries? I would love any help I can get! Thank you.

I had lap band surgery in Feb. 2006 at Barix in Columbus and paid 13,950--this included all preopn testing and fills for  the first year

I am having the lap band surgery on July 17th and I am selfpay also.  I paid $14,900 that included everything plus one year of fills.   My surgeon is Dr. Curry and he is located in Cincinnati.  I wish you the best on your decision.  Remember if you go out of the country there will probably be other costs involved. (travel, plus finding a dr. in the USA to do your follow up care, which I hear that fills can be anywhere from $150-$300  a visit.) God Bless you Wanda

Hi Crystal,   Most Doctors require testing before surgery.  I had alot of my testing already done since I came from another surgeon.  I was going to have the RNY but I changed my mind about 6 months ago and decided to look for a surgeon who specializes in the band.  I had a complete cardiac and pulminary workup, EKG, nutrutional and psyche. evaluation plus I had records from my PCP and sleep disorder physician.   I dont know what Dr. Curry's office needs specifically because all this was done from my previous surgeon and Dr. Curry's office accepted this when I transferred to him.

I had mine done in Mexico by Dr Joya.  8K all inclusive.  Wouldn't change a thing.  Dr Curry does my aftercare and fills.
