What does this mean?

Hello, It's been a while since my last post and thought I'd bring everyone up to date and ask a few questions. I applied to OSU's bariatric program in Jan-2007. I completed my evaluations with the dietitian and psychologist and both thought I was an excellent candidate for RNY. The hospital accepts my insurance (Medicare). The next step, I'm told, is the presentation of my case to the review board. After the evaluation, I was asked to get a referral from my PCP and forward the results of a battery of blood tests -- oh and lose 10 lbs before surgery (whenever that is). Then I got the test results and referral letter to them right away. This can't be all there is to it. Other than having my appointments rescheduled due to work, the process seems to be moving along quite well. When does the 13 - 26 week classes come into play? Will my insurance cover this? What if I can't pay? tia, Luana

Which program are you talking about? OSU or Fresh Start (Riverside) ? Two different programs--

HELLO COULD YOU TELL ME ABOUT OSU BECAUSE I CALLED THEM ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT TAKING MEDICARE AT THIS TIME MAYBE I CAN FIND OUT WHEN THE NEXT MEETING IS SO I CAN GET MINES STARTED TOO AND WHAT DO A PCP STAND FOR

Hi Luana, I went 3/4 of the way through Ohio State's program including the 12 week class titled The Learn Program for weight management. My insurance did not cover the $250 cost but OSU lets you make payments. It just has to be paid in full by the last class. After your information went to the review board, did they say you needed to attend a class? I would give Ohio State a call and ask them what else is needed before your meeting with your surgeon or the pre-surgery nutrition classes are scheduled. They should be able to answer those questions for you. Good Luck to you.
