Okay, I am totally in freak out mode!!! I was looking through the memorials, (I KNOW, I totally shouldn't have even gone there!) and I am getting soooo nervous! I know everyone goes through this but how do you calm yourself down?? I know everything will be fine and I am not considering changing my mind or anything, just can't seem to settle down! Malissa, What worked for me was to try to keep the big picture in mind. Remaining M.O. was far more risky than surgery risk, and yes I rode the emotional roller coaster as well. This is a life changing event. Reading through the memorials makes it real, yes. Just try to think about the good health you can have post-op. Good luck, Doug

Hey there,  Wasn't it you just the other day telling me it was going to be ok when I was freaking out?? Now you are freaking out? Now say it with me...WE WILL BE OK AND ONE YEAR FROM NOW WE WILL BE FABULOUS!!! Repeat as often as nessesary. I'm feeling pretty good tonight and not too freaked out. I didn't know there was a memorial page, which is probably a good thing because I don't need to worry any more than I am. I know, you know, heck we all know things can go wrong but you have to remember how many have had it all go right and that's what I'm focusing on and that's what you should focus on. Just think next weekend I'll be back to report in and I'll be saying everything is fine. I'm really beginning to believe this whole thinking positive thing. Its really been helping. But let's say it one more time...WE WILL BE OK AND ONE YEAR FROM NOW WE WILL BE FABULOUS!!!  Linda PS- I see you got your ticker changed. Glad you figured it out.

You are sooo right Linda!  It's easier to dish out advice than to take it!! My new quote, "We will be ok and one year from now we will be FABULOUS!!" I have a  feeling that is gonna get me through the rough spots of this journey! You have become a GREAT support for me and you may have to pull me back to my senses sometimes but know that I hear everything you say!!  Thanks Doug for the supportive words! I needed to hear that! I will continue to focus on all the times this surgery has went RIGHT!!! Thanks again! Malissa

Ask your doc for some anti-anxiety drugs. I used Clonipin. I only took it twice leading up to the surgery and one the morning of--my psycologist reommended it and the doctor knew I was anxious. It really helped calm me down and chill out. That is what it is for. I am all for the meds--no shame, nothing wrong with it. This is a scary time--I just had surgery on June 18th and it is still fresh--get yourself some meds, girl--it will help--being anxious will not help your body be in a good place--

Melissa  I am looking and making sure I am not the one righting the freaked out message. I had my surgery done Two weeks ago tomorrow. Everything should be fine. Dr. White from what I understand is very good at what he does. I went to Dr. Lane in Bowling green he is awsome. I was on here all the time before my surgery hit doing and saying the same thing. One min. I was okay and the next I was freaking out. I had a good friend stay with me the night before surgery to calm me down. We went to the movies, swimming, and shopping. If you can't find anyone just give me a call I live in maumee as well and am looking for someone to walk with and maybe even go bike riding with around here. I will email you my phone number so check your messages !

Hi Malissa! You know, I read through the "memorials" too recently and this added a whole new dimension to my anxiety as well! But the bottom line is this.....the likelihood that you will be fine is far greater than not. You will be fine. I understand "freakout mode" REAL WELL....mine went through the roof when I went to my presurgery appointment on the 10th and was told that I needed more stomach tests before Dr. White can decide if I am a candidate for this surgery or not. Now I have to wait until my next appointment with him on August 7th to find out if I can get the suregry, when I thought I would be setting a surgery date on July 10th!!!! So.......more anxious waiting is NOT what I needed. I think the idea of something to relax you is a good one. I may do the same myself. Hang in there....YOU CAN DO THIS....and God willing, I can to.  ~Barb
