Weightloss in the first few weeks post-op
Hello all. I'm 10 days post op today and I was just curious. I've lost about 13 lbs so far and I'm wondering if it's normal or if I'm losing not enough or too much. They don't really tell you what to expect within the first couple of weeks as far as weightloss is concerned. I'm trying to get all of my protein in daily and taking the vitamins like I'm supposed to. I have been eating a lot of blended meat for my meals (about 1 oz or so like it says)to ensure I get all my protein. I'm just worried I guess that I'm not lossing it as quickly as I should be. I want to exercise but I know that right now I can walk out to my mailbox and back and get out of breath and have aches in my stomach. I just want to make sure I'm doing this right I refused to have spent all this time, energy and devotion to this surgery to fail it. It's given me the tool I need to make this work I just really want to succeed. Any advise anyone can give me would be great.

Seems like 13 lbs in 10 days is a lot of weight! Why are you thinking you may be failing? I am 3 weeks post op, had to be converted to open, but I am very winded as well. I try to walk 3 times a day and go even one driveway further each time. I went to the grocery store today with my hubby and had to take a 2 hour nap when I came home. Just walking is the best exercise. Small, small, steps toward healing. Your insides are bruised and rearranged-some pain is expected--give it some time! Also, this is a lifetime journey, so don't make any judgements yet! I am trying to take that advice myself. Patience and baby steps.
You are already eating blended meats? My surgeon has me on liquids for 3 weeks, then pureed. I am lloking forward to real protein and not just shakes!
