WOW, What a fun weekend!

Hi everyone! This past weekend I took my son to the Mom and me cub scout camp at Camp Berry in Findley. This was our first camping trip...EVER. I have NEVER been camping before so I was quite nervous about the whole thing. Never put up a tent, slept outside or anything. Thankfully, my son's leader is amazing and helped me the whole weekend. The theme was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. So after every event the scouts completed, the scouts got an everlasting gobstopper (marble). So if they did enough, they had enough to play marbles at the end of the day. The events included Mike Teevee's Shooting range (bb gun), Violet's blueberry pop (they put a blue balloon on the archery target), Augustus Gloop's Belly flop pool (swimming) and of course the glass elevator that goes sideways (tractor with a trailer to take us to the shooting ange). And so much more. It was so great how they used the movie for everything. My son had soo much fun. And I was so proud of myself for being able to keep up with everyone the way I did. I must admit I am still a little sore this morning but it was so worth it and my son and i can't wait till next year. I really can't wait till next year because it will be close to a year after my surgery and there will be that much more stuff that I'll be able to participate in with my son. I also learned just how much fun it is to go camping. Now that we have the stuff, my husband and I are hoping to start going more often. At the moment the next time will be August when all the scouts from my sons den do a family campout. I'm still a little nervous about that one because I will be 4 weeks post-op and I hope I have the energy to go. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Linda great post I too was a cub scout camping mom. It seemed like 250 boys and Dad's and me! They called my tent the Tajmahal  I had a full size air mattress and 4 battery operated fans-can't stand to be hot at night- but I always had fun-cindy

Been there done that!!!!!!!!!! And there is a lot more fun to come.  I was a Den Leader all though Cub Scouts and am now on the Boy Scout Troop Committee. My son started scouts in 1st grade and is now almost an Eagle Scout.  Just his project and one more merit badge and then he's an Eagle.  You will look back on this camp out and wounder where did the time fly by.   When we took Family Scout camp outs a lot of the little sisters did better than the boys with their out door skills and that made the boys really mad.
