Seems like if I had that kind of dedication to losing weight I wouldn't have to have the surgery.. does that make sense? what if i can't control my portions? I don't mean to sound like a baby but I really feel like if I could control it I would have by now.. which means I might be good at this..

I can be honest with my logs if that's what they want me to do but how do you reduce portion sizes when your in a 30 year habit of using a shovel? and I eat fast too!  Cutting back on sugar will be fine I'm already doing that much at least.   Please email anytime! [email protected]

Hi, I had my surgery in March at 43 years old.  i had alot of the same feelings that you are having.  Should I or shouldn't I, could I do it with Weigh****chers again, etc.  I even thought that I will be the one person that the surgery doesn't work on!!  I can tell you now that I am so glad I did it.  I am down 72 lbs. and learning new things everyday.  Eat slow, chew well, etc.  Trust me... I WAS a champion fast eater.....the sparks used to fly off my plate. Take your time and think things through.  It is a big change in lifestyle but well worth it. Shelley

Hello! LOL at the champion eater.. I feel a kindred spirit here that's for sure.  I'm amazed at 3 months and down 72 lbs! is that a record or what? Are you exercising? it's a 4-letter word to me. I have to get over myself with that I know but right now walking is it for me anything else I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm a member of the YMCA!  Please add me as your friend and keep me posted on your new journey to the you that's always been in there. Bobbie

Well, I don't know if it's a world record but it's certainly a record for me!!  For the record, I HATE exercising and will do anything to get out of it.  I am seriously a CHAMPION EATER and I struggle with slowing down every single day.  I eat dinner and read and answer these boards and that slows me down.   I decided on the RNY surgery because of my health.  I had high cholesterol, high BP, severe sleep apnea and was headed for diabetes.  i envisioned my life in 10 years, that is....if I was still alive....and didn't like what I saw.  Me, only bigger and not necessarily better!!!  I literally felt like I was going to die without the surgery.  Since the surgery, I have not taken ANY medications and the sleep apnea is gone.  I look and feel so much better. I hope this helps you.  Take your time to think it through. Shelley

Shelly , is Sleep Apnea where you wake up when you turn over? I'm sure I have that but not sure if I actually stop breathing like I've read somewhere.  I want to lose it all and lose it like NOW but I'm afraid my skin will be like rubber all over the place.. I'm about sure I'll have to have plastic surgery for that some day.. Just wanted to slow it down by having the lapband.. I honestly don't know which is best for me and i was suppose to have this decison already made.. slowing down eating is one of my biggest concerns. And I have to cook for 4 other people so how do you do that and not eat what they eat? I'm on Zocor and diavan hct for blood pressure and would really love to get off both.  but back to food for a second.. I'm afraid I'll get myself sick by eating and not chewing enough to go down that narrow opening with the lapband.. what have been your issues with the fully surgery? Is there a way to contact each other directly on here?  here's my address [email protected] thanks Bobbie

I was not told how much I had to eat or could not eat - just that I had to reduce portions.  After the first few days I lost my cravings for sugar - but today, I was hungry all day.  I ate when I was hungry and wrote it on my log - and why I ate something extra.  I go on July 17th, so I will see what they say.  I may be eating too much.  I will find out.

Hi Bobbie, Read my profile.  I had my surgery at age 48----no complications.  It's been wonderful.  You got a friend here!

Hi Bobbie I too am only 5 ft tall and just under the 300 mark and I will be 49 this year.  I have been dabbling with the idea of this surgery for quite awhile.  I know exactly what you are going through.  Please feel free to email me or private message me any time,  Email----->[email protected] Blessings Tina

Hi Bobbie,             I am in Columbus too and am attending the seminar at Riverside on the 5th.  I completely know how you feel.  I keep asking myself how can I be so afraid of something I want so much? All I know is this.  I have spent the last 20 years of my life living in shame and in pain.  I work hard, I am a great person and most of all  I take care of everyone around me.  Now it is time for me to take care of myself.  It is your time too.  You deserve to have a life free of medicine and weight! I will be praying that your decision is easy and that you will be happy with whatever you decide.   GOOD LUCK! Karrie
