I'm officially on my liquid diet pre-surgery (lap band).  My surgery date is June 27.  The last 4 months have literally creeped by for me.  I never thought I was going to get here.  I'm so excited.  Are there any other lap banders from Columbus here?

Thanks, Sheila!  The waiting is hard.  I didn't fully accept that this was happening until then, really.  I hope your time is much shorter than you think. Summer is a great time to have the surgery so that you can have some good habits and get used to how you can eat by the time holiday season rolls around.

So true, I am trying to be consciense of everything I put in my  mouth and I am slowly weaning my selp off caffine and sugar, its hard but I am going to do it! How are you doing on the pre op diet. Is it easier to do knowing you have a date? Or is it just hell on earth? Details please.

I believe it's easier than expected.  The food is not bad at all.  However, I've done programs like Medifast before so I'm kind of used to this type of diet.  The first 3 days I lost 6 pounds and I feel it...so that's great!  Giving up caffeine for me was hard, but I will never give up coffee.  I'm still drinking decaf with sugar free creamer.  :)  I've weaned myself off of caffeine several times in the last few years because of pregnancies and such.  I always go back.  I'm assuming around a year from now that will happen.  I am looking forward to being more active naturally, though.  So, you never know.  I'm the type of person who benefits much more from exercising, so I'm just using this as a jumping board to get to a point where I'm not putting so much pressure on my body.  Once I get going with regular exercise I'll feel a lot better. The psychologist I talked to when I was doing Medifast at Johns Hopkins said this about exercise... "You're going to to get there (weight loss).  You have a choice of what to drive, though.  Do you want to drive a Ford Focus (no exercise) or a Ferrari (exercise)?  Which do you think will get you there faster?"  I've never forgotten that.  I just feel terribly uncomfortable doing too much with this much excess weight and arthritis issues.  Too many details?
