Hello everyone! I'm getting down to the final stages of this long journey. I went to see the internest doctor on Monday and now waiting for paperwork to be sent to the insurance company. I'm trying not to get too excited. I don't want to get excited until they approve me. My best friend Kathy is so excited for me. REDanceK007HL.gif She has the energy for the both of us. I will be calling the doctor's office this week to see if they have sent off the paperwork. The internest did find some interesting numbers on my blood work. He said that my vitamin D is a little low (between the calcium and multi vitamin I take I get 800 IU) and that my vitamin B12 was really low and wanted me to get a shot before I left the office and then one next week and the week after that. Nice!! He was really shocked to see that my cholesterol wasn't as high as it should be for my size. They are high, but not as high as he would have suspected. My sugar was high too (200's) but I wasn't told to fast and I ate breakfast before the test. Said my EKG and pulminary test were really good. I can start to see some light at the end of the tunnel. I can't wait to get a date. (sense any excitement there...yeah) yay.gif My husband has a thing for big girls. We were at the store the other day and he said that he doesn't know what he will do when I lose my butt. What am I to say about that? He want's be to be healthy and pain free (still having back pain since surgery 1 year ago) and he want's me to be able to walk better and go for bike rides with him. What am I to tell him? I just said that he'll get use to it. He doesn't want the surgery to affect my breasts either. Typical!!! I love my husband, I really do. But we have had a lot of problems lately and he is to childish a lot of the times. If he leaves me after the surgery, I'll pack his bags for him. Oh Well!!! Seriously. I'll miss him, but I can live without him!!! Like the tampax commerical says..."UPGRADE!!" Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to comment and stay tuned to the next episode...Oh sorry...I'll keep you all posted. How was that. Bye for now! Laura  P.S.  I'll be looking for an angel soon...Want to be my angel {sung to the "won't you be my neighbor" tune}  LOL!!

My insurance will only cover the RNY.  My friend had hers done in January 07 and has lost 74+ (I say plus because her home scale told her she lost a total of 98) but wants to wait to see what Dr. Lane's scale says.  I have all my lab work done and psych eval and seen Dr. Dawley.  Michelle is working on getting the paperwork submitted to the insurance company.  How did you get a date already?  They won't give me a date until it goes through insurance.  Maybe because of the insurance company...never mind.  I guess I sit here and think everyone in the world has the same insurance...MONDAYS!!!  My friend and I also work together and we have another friend who has had the DS done.  She is having a revision because she lost 200 pounds, but she is so anemic (spelling?) and very sick.  I originally wanted DS, but insurance will only pay for RNY, so I'm going with that.  I had back surgery last year, and with my FMLA at work, I have to wait till after July 16th to have another leave.  So, that is whay I'm shooting for.  I promise to keep you all posted and good luch with your journey.  I will be checking in on you!

Laura,   My insurance has an exclusion, and this is my 2nd job with this so I am am self-paying.  Who is your insurance carrier?  Why in the DS not covered?  Have you posted this to the insurance board to see if there is anyway to fight it?  I know there are a couple of people on the DS Board who have faught and won when their insurance tried to block the DS stating it is an experimental procedure.  Check this out it won't hurt ya you have to wait anyway...

I hope to be having surgery with Dr. Lane in Bowling Green.  My friend had hers there in January 07 and he is awesome and so is the staff there.  I have met him several times and the nurses there when I visited Kathy were really caring and that is what I need.  I had back surgery in June 06 and the staff at Toledo Hospital didn't give a hoot about me.  I was so glad to get out of there.  Though this is a different surgery, I feel they are really experience with this type of stuff.  A couple of the nurses that Kathy had actually had the surgery themselves so they relate!  Good luck in your journey and keep me posted.

I don't have a date yet.  Plus, I have to wait till after July 16th.  See, I had surgery in June 2006 on my lower back.  Due to FMLA at work, I have to wait till July to go out on leave again.  Otherwise, if my manager is a real "meanie" she could fire me and I won't have a leg to stand on.  I really need my job so FMLA is my security blanket.  It will save my job!  Besides, the paperwork still has to be submitted to insurance first and then I will get my date.  Usually 2 weeks after the insurance company gives me the okay (that is what my friend said) and hopefully that will be close to the time I need.
