HEY ERKIA! THE CAVS ARE GOING TO RUN ALL OVER THE SPURS--GO CAVS!!!!  I WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU ANSWER A QUESTION OR TWO FOR ME- WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE LAP BAND INSTEAD OF THE RYN? THE REASON I ASK IS THAT I JUST WENT FOR MY 1ST CONSULATION AND I'M NOT FOR SURE WHICH ONE I SHOULD HAVE DONE--I AM SO TORN. SO IF YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE, I'D LOVE OT HEAR IT IF YOU ARE WILLING OT SHARE. THANKS AND HOPE YOU HAVE CONTINUED SUCCESS ON YOUR W L JOURNEY.                                                                                                                 LADONNA

The lap-band is less invasive to me, and if there are any complications, reversal (removal) is less complicated. I also was leery of the malabsorption and "dumping" syndrome associated with RNY. And with the band, you don't have to worry about those things. Not that I want to eat whatever I want (Lord knows, that's how I got up to 294 lbs.) but if I want to have a tiny piece of cake or a spoonful of ice cream at some point in my life, I'd like to be able to do that. The band will allow me to physically be able to do that, as well as not allow me to go totally nuts with it, like I used to.

Finally, the band is adjustable so I don't always have to have a teeny tiny pouch- as long as I get my head together regarding emotional hunger (which I know I will, God willing, one day) In general, I just didn't like the idea of cutting and moving stuff around in my digestive system. I want everything to stay as is.
Good luck with your decision! Take your time. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.
