cedar point

Hi, I usally post in the ny forum,so I am new here. I just wanted to know if anyone has been to cedarpoint from here. We are going on vacation there in two weeks and I just wanted to know if I would be able to fit on the rides. I weight 240 has anyone had experience with riding rides being heavy.or as I like to say pleasantly plump. Thanks Sheila

Last time I went to CP was for my Senior Trip 10 yrs ago (good gooly where did the time go?) and I was around 300 then. I was able to ride most of the rides without too much problem. I've heard though that some of the newer ones aren't as friendly for us "pleasantly plump" people. ( I love that line!) But I'm sure with you being even smaller than I am that you shouldn't have too many problems.   I hope you have a great time. Its a blast!!! Linda

Hi I have not been there since the Top Thrill dragster was put there about 4-5 years now I was about 270 and just had a baby a couple months previous to going..fitting into the cars we not a problem in the older coasters..But before my pregnancy my favorite ride was the Millenium Force Awsome Coaster..But when I went that year I could not get the lap to fit the bar came down but because i was heavier the next summer I was bummed & embaressed..And to top it off in front of everyone I had to get off along w/ another woman who had to also But I did not feel so bad, Until I seen her old mand get off and wait w/ her..& my Dick head husband stayed on to ride..I was Hot, And when he came off the ride I immediatly wanted to go home...I *****ed at him all the way home about how Cruel he was...I was upset..But I have not been back since and it sucks to think I cannot go to my favorite place in the world Been going since I was a kid..But after my WLS Hopefully I will be able too some day so my advice to you is Do not ride the Wicked twister if you are Large Breasted as I am Cause I could not ride that..And you can try to ride the Millenium And this is from A horrible experience...Thx Nikki in TOL,OHIO

Hi Sheila, My husband and I went there for our 1st anniversary, we had a 4 month old at the time. I weighed about 230 at the time and never thought anything about it, never had a problem before. I love Cedar Point and my heart was broken because I couldn't get the buckle together without having guidance from the staff on Top Thrill Dragster.  I remember how embarrassed I felt because they were actually making people get off the ride in front of everyone.  My husbands a big guy too, but not around the waste, but the shoulder's.  So, we didn't even try the Millenium...it was a bummer, but a goal of ours for our 4th anniversary to go.   I remeber feeling humiliated and discriminated against, but Cedar Point specifically states in thier safety policy that any male a certain size and any female that is a size 18/20 may have difficulty riding....their just getting strict.  Sorry to burst the bubble, I just remember how embarrassed I felt and what a wake up call it has been for me. I have been through the Cedar Point situation the last two summers.  I had no problem on the Magnum Force and the water rides.  I did not get to ride the Millenium Force, Corkscrew, or the Dragster.  These events have led me to make the decision to get the surgery.

I couldnt fit in one of the older rides - the Wild Mine Ride. It was a lap bar and wouldnt latch. I'm not into the bigger coasters so can't say too much about those. I avoid them like the plague! lol

Awe ~ this is one of my favorite subjects!  I live 5 minutes from Cedar Point and have already been there 6 times this year and last year went a total of 26 times.  This year was the first time I am able to ride EVERY single coaster at the park.  I currently weigh approx 240 with a 44" waist.  I am not sure if that helps you out, but they do have the test seats you can try before waiting in line.  Someone in the past expressed how they felt embarassed by the seats if they could not fit, but I always like them because if I did not fit ~ I could disappear out in the crowd instead of taking the "walk of shame" when I was to big.  I do not think you will have any issues, so relax and know that you will have  a GREAT time.  If you have any other specific questions, feel free to respond or email me.  If you take a look at my profile, you will see some of the rides in my pictures.  Like I said, I was there alot last year.  I was making up for 15+ years of not being able to fit and now I wish I had the money to travel the country to ride coasters.  Although, Cedar Point has the best selection I have seen. Sounds like you are getting a lot of confusing answers - just thought I'd throw out a little more mud, lol... I haven't been in years, but I'm thinking the last time I was there I was about 240 at 5'5".  I think I was wearing 22 jeans.  I had no problems....I was worried, but I have never been asked off a ride (a total fear however).  I say go.  And if they have test seats, try them.  ANd if they don't, try getting on the ride anyway...if you don't fit, at least you can walk away knowing that you are in the process of getting healthier. My friend got turned away about 3 years ago, but she was easily 280 or more (and again - about 5'5 or 5'6)....I really think you'll be fine on almost all, if not all of them. Good Luck.  And seriously remember - if you don't fit and are asked to leave -  No matter how much it might hurt, or embarrass you - you will live through it.  And the NEXT time you go, and you fit - THAT feeling will be that much better.
