G'morning! I was just wondering if any of you have experienced feelings of not wanting any food at all? I've never been hungry since surgery but I would eat, now at 2 1/2 mo . in this last 4-5 days I can't stand the smell or taste of any food. I may eat about 2 bites and I'm full or just not interested in it. Even my protein shakes. My whole body just feels outta whack! I didn't know if this is just a thing some go through or is something I need to call the office on. I'm loosing at a good rate and able to get on my treadmill each day but as for food....the thrill is gone?! Thanks for hearing me out. Hope you have a nice holiday weekend. Pam

I'm 3.5 years out but I do remember a time like this early out.  You should call Doc Rita just to make sure everything is OK. The office  always told me to call with any questions.   Keep up the shakes and water even if you can't eat. So you can get you liquides and protein in at least.  I know this didn't help much maybe some else has some better advice.  Robin

I'm glad you called Doc Rita just to make sure everything is ok. Hopefully the meds will help.  Give them a few days and if not call back to see what the next step would be.  Remember to keep up the H2O and such if nothing else.  I hope the meds help.  Robin

Hi Pam: It happens frequently after gastric bypass and can happen after lap band. That is why it is important to eat small meals frequently, even if you are not hungry. Eating frequently makes sure your body has the energy and protein it needs to survive and stay alive, in addition to losing weight. WLS changes your body and your brain, in a good way. it forceably changes the relationship you have with food. In time you will regain your enthusiasm for food, but in a way that is healthy for you. Right now your brain is sending you mixed messages. Gives this thing you are going through about 6 months to get over. If, however, you lose interest to the point of not eating anuything at all, that is a big red flag and it is time to talk to your doctor. Good luck and good health!

Thank yu so much. I did call my Dr. and she called in a script for..IC PROCHLORPERAZINE 10MG tabs. I got the Phenergren but it just knocks me out and I can't take it during the day since I have a daycare. I am getting my 2 protein shakes in and plenty of water so I'm good to go on the hydration part!! The iron pill is a whole new book for me!! I have them even broke into 4ths. and about gag taking them!! Replivas are evil to me!! haha Someone said maybe GNC has a liquid protein I could try, so I'll check that out. Again thanks for the help. I may be back with more questions!! haha

Pam,  I just remembered something. Sometimes the IRON can upset out new pouch. You might want to call the office again and ask about different ones. I can't take many of the OTC ones. I get REALLY SICK!!!!!!!!!!! This might also be the trouble, the wrong IRON PILL.  It took me forever to find the right one and then the right time to take it and I have to take mine with food or I get very ill. Almost like dumping.  Good Luck,  Robin

No problem, any time. Good luck. Ask your doctor or bariatric surgeon about different iron preparations, there are a variety of iron preparations that come in liquid and small pill format. Protein water, hmmm. Read the labels carefully! I have always been a fan of Isopure ready made drinks, 20 ounces of fluid and 40 grams of protein. They can be expensive at $3-$4 a bottle. Remeber that your body can only absorb about 20-25 grams of protein at one time, so break it up. there is a nother product we recommend to our patients called Protein Water made by Stacker, I do not know what it costs, but it is 20 grmas of protein in 20 ounces of fluid. Like Isopure it comes in a variety of flavors. Good health to you!
