Finally I Got a Surgery date June 30th
I had OPEN RNY in 2003 and the pain was not to bad. I did't take all my pain meds but when I did need them, TAKE THEM. Keep your binder on that helps A LOT. I don't think you'll need a nurse but you might want someone with you for the first 72 hours after your home just to get settled in. You also might be more comfey sleeping in a recliner and not a bed. You use a lot of abs to get in and out of bed.
I was givedn a RX for nausa but I can't remember what it was. Ask your doc. Just remember to sip your water, crystal light, protein shake, or what ever your doc says. And get up and walk around even when you get home.
Keep those questions coming but remember we all had different docs and each one has different answers. Always ask your doc what is right for you.
I was able to eat real food within one week of surgery.
Good Luck,
Robin
