Only one week to surgery. Had pre-admission testing today. I am nervous and excited. Gladly accepting all encouragement.

Hi Nancy, I just had my surgery 8 days ago in Omaha, NE. I am feeling fine. The pain is completely gone. My incesions are starting to itch like a '***'. The hardest part I am facing now is eating 'enough' food. I am on a complete liquid diet. Before the surgery I was drinking 8-10 oz of my protein drinks, now I can barely drink 4.5oz!!!! Now do I feel hungry - HELL YES!!!! And there has been times when I want to eat something 'fattening'. I get this feeling that I can eat a burger and fry and it'll be fine. But then I take a sip of water or my protein drink (get use to carrying something to drink with you ALL THE TIME!!!) and after about 30 seconds - I feel satisfied. I drove pass my favorite fast food joint. I had my turning sign on ready to turn in and while at the stop light waiting for it to turn green, I took a couple of sips of my Crystal Light drink. By the time changed, I was feeling fine and kept on driving. . It really helped. So good luck with your surgery. I was up and shopping 3 days after I got home from the hospital. That's when I learned the value of carrying something to drink with me at all times. I felt a little drained but my protein water kept me going...without eating!!!

Hi Tammie, Did you have the Lap-Band? I really understand the emotional eating. It's not real hunger, but brain hunger. I just have to keep in mind the fast food is poison to me. I am nervous ~Nancy

Congratulations Nancy! My surgery was on 4/11/07. I don't know it all, but I can share with you my experience with the Lap Band. I felt fine after the surgery. The only place I was really sore was where the port area is. Other than that I wouldn't have even known I had surgery. But I did make the mistake of trying to do too much. About 5 days after my surgery I was feeling so good that I went back to work and walked a mile. BIG MISTAKE! Walk a lot, but walk short distances many times throughout the day. I felt like everything was swollen and that the band was choking me. I came home from work and ate a sugar free popsicle (to help with the swelling) and rested. Later that evening I was feeling good again, but had to refrain myself from doing too much. Good luck with everything, you will be just fine! My prayers are with you. Tiffany
