So hungry.
a steak...I was on the liquid diet for about 4 weeks before surgery. I lost about 30 lbs.....but I cheated every once in a while. I might have a steak on the weekend which usually held me over till the next week. Also I took the powdered soup they gave me and doctored it up. Chicken soup, I would add a small piece of chicken, some celery, garlic & herb, couple drops of hot sause, taco sause, onion, diced tomatoes, some spegetti, cup of boiling water, chicken bouillon and maybe throw in a few veggies and anything else that was lying around once in a while. Put it all in a blender and wala....I did this all the time even with the tomato soup. Hopes this helps....

Dave,
That steak certainly sounds good. I don't think I could do this liquid diet for a month. Altho, you do what you have to do. I am so hungry tho. Early in the day is ok. It starts after 3pm and by 9 or 10pm I'm starving. I'm trying not to be grouchy but I'm hungry. I may have to break down and eat a hunk of protein. I have eaten some lowfat cheese and a littile tofu in some egg drop soup and a hard boiled egg but this weekend is going to be hard.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Ditto - I did the same thing Jan. My surgery was 5/2 and I started my liquid diet 4/16. Towards the end (and even now to be honest) I was dying to 'bite' into something - anything!!!! But what I did was I would take an apple and bite into it, chew it and then spit it out. I know it is gross but I made a point of not swallowing but just the idea of 'chewing' satisifed me. I would then drink a strong protein drink to fill me up. A teaspoon of creamy low fat peanut butter helped me with hunger pains as well...
Tammie,
I never thought about peanut butter. I just may have some tonight. My husband and I are going to watch a movie tonight and while he sits there w/ his KittKatt Blizzard from DQ I might have a spoonful of peanut butter. At this point, anything is a treat. How are you doing since your surgery? You haven't been out very long. Good luck.
The diet before the surgery can be very rough. My suggestion, and it seemed to work for me, drink your liquids for breakfast and throughout the day, but then have a healthy, well balanced dinner. That way you don't feel like you are totally starving. Your surgery date is tomorrow...so you probably are on liquids for the rest of the day today... but hopefully this will answer the question for someone else that is wondering the same thing.
Good luck with your surgery. I hope that all goes well :fairy:

Yea, Hi...I had my surgery may 7th and I also had the 2 week liquid fast. I lost 18 pounds and I did cheat. I had salads (chef) a little dressing...I ate no carbs at all. I had chicken breast and maybe 2 oz cheese.. one day I had a happy meal. I will advise not to eat the day befor you do your cleansing.. the less in there.. the less to remove...good luck to you, any other questions email me [email protected] dont do the boards very often...Sunday
