Still sore

I am really beginning to get nervous, I had surgey 4-10-07 and everything has held nicely but the main surgey incision still hurts. Like I can only sleep on one side, if I cough I have to apply pressure to the area, if I sneeze I also grab that site and apply pressure. How long will this area be sore? The pain that I have is no where near as servere as it was one week out, but I'm concerned and I have my 6 week follow up on 5/24/07 but I want to make sure this is normal and not panic.

Have you called your nurse, and what type of procedure did you have, lapband or the bypass?

Hi LaNiya, First congratulations on your successful surgery. Its good to "see" you. As far as the pain, keep in mind that the Dr. had to cut thru your stomach muscles. My largest incision was on my upper left side. That is the one that hurt the most and the longest. Sometimes I still get a little pain there. Nothing huge but some discomfort. Your body is healing and that might be the source of your pain. Not sure. I so remember everytime I sneezed or coughed I had to have a pillow to hold against my stomach too. That's about normal. It will get better I promise. The obvious answer is to call your Dr just to make sure. Best wishes to you. I hope you find out what is causing your discomfort. Have a great night =) Kym
