Hey all. My surgery date is May14th. I am having the RNY. Has anyone already been thru this saved their meal plans after getting out of the hospital. I sure would appreciate some sample menus. Thanks Jan

I had to do 2 weeks of clear liquids: Propel, crystal ligh****ered down, broth, jello, sugar-free popsicles then 2 weeks of full liquids: added milk (but it made me sick & still does) and low carb yogurt. then 2 weeks of pureed foods: added pureed soups (vegetable, strained chicken noodle) runny mashed potatoes, cottage cheese. I hope that helps. I lost the most weight that first 6 weeks & I am glad I followed the doctor's orders. It only gets harder to lose the farther you get out. Hugs, Darlene

Thanks for the reply Darlene. Where did you fit in your protein when you were on clear liquids? And did you have to go on a high protein liquid diet before the surgery? I start that tomorrow and I am so nervous about not being able to eat anything. I get very cranky.

I did not have to do a pre-op diet. Post-op, in the early days after surgery, do not even sweat trying to get in a lot of protein. You should focus more on just trying not to get dehydrated. You can worry about protein a few weeks down the road when you are able to take in a little more at a time. I really like the Nectar Fuzzy Navel protein powder. I make it a little watered down & add the ice after it is all mixed up. Good luck! Darlene
