eating solid food again
I had my surgery on 3-20-07. I have lost 43 pounds as of today. I am not complaining, I am very happy with my weight loss so far.
I am just having problems eating solid foods. I seem to only be able to tolerate liquids and a few soft foods like eggs, mashed potatoes, cottage cheese. I have threw up several times eating solid foods. I try to eat slow and chew, chew, chew and it still comes back up. I tried fish, toast, pasta, meatloaf and they do not stay down. Has anyone else experienced this? How long should it last?
I had trouble eating almost the first year... especially the first 9 months. Drink your protein if you have to.. just try to get it in and water.. It depends on the day what and how much I can eat. I still stick with soft or crunchy most of the time... no way do I do pasta or untoasted bread... it just sits there. But if you are haveing problems with everything, see your doc, you may have a stricture that can be easily fixed with a scope.
Good luck
Peace, Pam
Hey! We were at Barix together! I had my surgery on March 20th also! I had the lap-band, and have lost 34 lbs. Did you have the band or bypass? Isn't Dr. Vig awesome? I am having my first fill on Monday, and am very excited. You are doing so well...you should be very proud of yourself! We probably passed in the hallway while at Barix, and may again someday...take care, and best of luck to you!
Hi: I only eat toast. No untoasted bread. I know what you mean by it sticking there. That's an awful feeling. I see my doctor today and the nutritionist so I have lots of questions. I will try to get the protein shakes in. I understand how important that is. The water is another thing. It's hard to get it in because I interview and use a computer and it's hard to stop and keep sipping when you are on a time limit. Thanks for your info and reply.
