getting shakey
I am almost 2 years out. I have been struggling with eating.....anything....but especially protein. It seems that almost everyday after eating......cottage cheese and pineapple (in it's own juice)....it start getting very shakey. Do think my sugar is taking a nose dive? I grab some cheese or other easy access protein and it seems to help. If I don't eat I don't get this way.
I eat only about 300 calories a day....and that is normal for me! I do not eat any kind of meat or eggs....just cheese and lots of fruit. I know that is poor eating but I can not tolerate any kind of meat! Eggs make me gag....I can't get passed the smell of them. I eat yogurt once in awhile and soy crisps from Trader Joe's.
I just can't figure out why after eating I get shakey....not before!
Thanks for any input....
Sue

Hey Sue, Yes, if this is happening 1-2 hrs. after eating, it sounds like your blood sugar is bottoming out. I've had the same thing happen, and eating some protein or even a few saltines helps make the shakes go away. After this happens a few times, you can learn the early signs, and eat something right away before it gets bad. Another thing I've noticed is that this happens more often when I'm down around 180#, and less at 190#.
Is there anything you can do to get in more calories? 300 cal. a day is even less than immediate post-op. The pure protein bars work well for me, about a buck apiece at WM. 170 cal. and 18-20 gms. protein, depending on flavor. Or maybe spike a small glass of milk with body fortress powder etc. Even full fat cottage cheese might help you out.
Your weight loss is awesome, and I'm sorry this is happening to you, hang in there. You might want to see your Dr. if this keeps up. Good luck, Doug
