I'm Home!!!!
First, I have to tell you all that the prayers really made a difference. As I was driving to St. V's Wednesday morning, getting prepped, waiting in the holding area and then going into the OR....I never felt anything but a wonderful sense of well being. I never doubted this decision or had a second thought about it. I know it was because of all of you. Thank you.
Surgery went "perfectly" according to Dr. Ben-Meir. The only problem I had is that my blood sugar started to spike after surgery. They weren't sure if they were going to put me in the unit or send me to the floor. Thank goodness I ended up on the floor.
The pain, at least for me, was not that big of a deal. I would say there was discomfort. I used my morphine pump a few times and then they took it away Thursday morning. They then give you liquid pain medication if you ask for it.
Everything at St. V's was wonderful except for the pharmacy. I got my pain medication prescription at 2:30 on Friday and my hubby went down to get it filled. At first they gave him a runaround that they were not taking anymore prescriptions for that day. Then he explained what it was and the pharmacy said to come back at 4:15 (mind you, they close at 4:30). He went back and they said they hadn't gotten to it yet. He said forget it! Thankfully, I'm not in a lot of pain and I have Tylenol with codeine that I can take it necessary. I think that the Pharmacy needs to get its act together!
Well, everything tastes so good after being on the Optifast diet. Cream soup, snow cones, popsicles, yum...yum.
I can't believe that I am now on the other side! If there is anything I can help anyone with or answer any questions, please contact me.
Thanks.
Relax -- you are going to find it hard to believe that it is finally happening once your date is here!
I think that the nursing staff -- checking you in, in the holding area, in recovery, and on the floors -- are FANTASTIC! They are patient and understanding and are really cheering for you.
I have not had any problems with keeping anything down, but let me tell you, once everything inside starts working again, you will find out that moving your bowels is a whole new experience!!!!
I am using Designer Whey Chocolate (which had been available at Marcs for awhile at half the price of GNC) and their Strawberry flavor. I ordered some Unjury Chicken broth and unflavored variety also. I have a Cappacinno Latte that I also love. My problem is to remember to sip, sip, sip, all day long according to Dr. Ben-Meir. He said to constantly sip for the next two weeks.
You will do fine and believe me, May 7th will be here before you know!
Oh wow I'm so happy for you and I just knew you would be a trooper. I thought about you so much at the support group meeting on Wednesday night. I wanted to come see you so bad but I didn't know your real name.
I hope you have continued success because you certainly deserve it. I have 4 more months to go or less really on the supervised diet. Got my psyche eval done and St. V's has it already. So I just hope I do half as well as you!!!
(((((hugs))))) and prayers continue!
