Lap Band Surgery
I had my surgery done in Cincinnati on 12/18/06. I got my first fill in 6 weeks and it was 1cc. Nothing happened, so I went back and this time they put in .5cc. Still nothing changed. When I was finally up to 3.5 cc and nothing was happening I asked for a flourscope and they said I didn't need it.
By this time they had a "fill" office in Columbus, so I went there and told the nurse my story and she said something wasn't right. She did an extraction of the fulid in my port and it was only 1.5cc. They had missed there "mark" in Cincinnati. She said that was why I wasn't feeling any restriction. She gave me 1 cc on 4/9/07 and NOW I am feeling what I am supposed to when you get a fill. I can't eat steak or pasta, but before that nurse, I thought I was going crazy. I waited over 4 months to start losing, so if anyone is having the same problem, asked the doctor to take out what's already in your port just to make sure no one made a mistake.
Nancy,
No, I had it done in an out-patient hospital in Wester Chester, Ohio. I went in early and they did the procedure and I left that afternoon.
Don't worry about the surgery, it was a piece of cake. I felt great afterwords. I have never felt bad sine I strted this journey, just frustrated becasue the doctors wouldn't believe me and said I just needed to be "patient".
If it hadn't been for that nurse in Columbus, I don't know how long this would have gone on. I just weighted myself and from Tuesday this wee****il Sunday am, I have lost 2 lbs. and that's we a bad cold. so no ecercise.
Good luck!!! I am problem the only person this has happened to, so make sure you have a good nurse when you det your fill.
Tavi
Hi Tavi, I live in the Warren/Youngstown area of Ohio and I'm new to all of this. I have my phyc appt tomorrow and my consult with the surgen May 15. I'm reading all I can about the lap-band cause I'm leaning towards having this type of weight loss surgery. I now know about the fills from your post and I'll keep this in mind after my surgery. Any help is appreciated, and I hope everything is going better for you. Judy
